Data Communication & Positioning Systems for Crane Automation
VAHLE offers indoor and outdoor data communication and absolute positioning systems (APOS). The APOS Magnetic is easily integrated with VAHLE conductor bar systems and data transfer products, such as the Slotted Microwave Guides Extreme (SMGX).
APOS Magnetic contains an intelligent reading head that transmits data information downstream to the control systems, including the SMGX. This data communication system provides reliable mobile data transmission for indoor/outdoor applications, such as crane systems and amusement rides.

U20 and U30 Heavy-Duty Unipole Conductor Rails

Festoons
- Plastic profile, plastic gliding carriers or stainless-steel carriers with wheels for K1 track.
- Stainless-steel track and/or cable carriers for C-track.
Absolute Positioning System (APOS) Magnetic
- Magnetic code band installed in the housing of KBH, MKH and U10 with travel speeds up to 12 m/s with a system length of up to 515 meters.
- Withstands temperatures from – 14°C to 55 °C and environmental conditions such as lightning, dust and humidity.
SMGX Data & Communication System
- Offering up to 100 Mbps data transfer rate, 24 VDC supply voltage and 500mA power consumption. Contains multiple ethernet ports, HF connectors and SD card slot for universally usable replacement unit.
- Resistance to indoor/outdoor environments for KBH, MKH conductor systems and STS port cranes. Storage temperatures range from – 15°C to 60°C.
